My Wife...And a Dead Guy in a Pear Tree

I know I've mentioned the fact that I'm married before. And that we have a great relationship and I'm an extraordinarily lucky man. I'm extraordinarily lucky for reasons too numerous to list. Today I shall list one. My wife is...are you ready?...A Writer. A writer as in a professional, published writer. But it gets better. To be more specific my wife is a Romance Writer. That is to say, she writes romance novels for a living. She's a multi-published, award winning, real-life romance novelist. And she's all mine. Cool huh?

I though I'd mention this today as an introduction to the fact that I want to give her a little promotional consideration. As it happens, now through the end of the month you have the opportunity to sample some of her work absolutely free. Harlequin, her publisher, is featuring one of her complete stories as their daily online read at their website eHarlequin. It will be posted one chapter each weekday through the end of the month. It started this past Monday so there are already five chapters available. It's called "And a Dead Guy in a Pear Tree" and yes, it's Christmas themed. Can't you tell?

Her next book "One Wild Wedding Night" will be released next month.

You can read a description and an excerpt on her website. Then you can go buy it. Then look for all the books on her backlist. And buy them too. Hey, we have a kid in college and two more behind her. And I want to retire into the lap of luxury. But besides that she's a great writer and you'll love her. She's my favorite author and I couldn't be more proud of her.

I told you I was a lucky guy.

Wow Bruce, you are a lucky guy. A pretty talented writer of romance novels wife couldn't possibly be a bad thing at all. Congrats to both of you.

Does she know Fabio? :)

Stay safe from the snow/sleet/ice and whatever else Mother Nature throws at us this weekend.

I would so much rather be trapped indoors with a romance novelist than a rocket scientist. Trade?

Bruce, a work in progress said...

No Mike, not a bad thing at all. Life is never dull.

Biscuit, I could tell you a lot about how most of the writers feel about Fabio. But I won't.
I think we're still up in the air about what's coming this weekend aren't we? As long as I can get out to get our Christmas tree tomorrow morning before it hits then it can do whatever it wants.
And that would be a no on the trade, sorry. Rocket Scientist huh? At Goddard?

Wow...dude...your wife is HOT.

How do you get abs like that, anyway?

Do you use ThighMaster?

Do you want to borrow mine?

Mo...og, she is indeed. Thanks for saying so, she does read the blog.
How do I get abs like that? AIRBRUSH.

Prepon, I'm a gentleman. I don't kiss and tell.

I suppose I could get on for the mother-in-law

so you must really give it to her good in the sack if she writes such steamy romance novels?

Bruce, a work in progress said...

Mal, ah, okay. You can take my wife's MIL off our hands for the holidays before she has a chance to drive us nuckin' futs.

TM, see response to PrePon you naughty girl.

You are indeed a lucky man ... and she is a lucky lady too ;-) x

Thank you very much Kitty. I know you're in the UK and that reminds me about one of the many cool things about her being a writer. The publisher sends her copies of her books when they're printed in other countries. Really interesting seeing them in all those other languages as well as the different formats and cover treatments in order to sell them in different markets.

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! i hope when i'm your age i'm still ragin' in the sack.

Bruce, a work in progress said...

I suspect it's possible as long as your liver makes it to my age. Quit chugging liters of vodka at airport security gates.

Leslie Kelly said...

Umm...moooog does know I just write the books and that is NOT me on the cover, right? lol!

Thanks for the plug today baby.

Bruce, a work in progress said...

Honestly honey I'm not sure if he realizes that or not. Mooooog is often confused. Just smile and nod and don't make any sudden movements.

Always happy to help my love.

Hungry Mother said...

Does she provide a running commentary of your lovemaking? "His brazen stare at her heaving chest made her go all mushy inside..."

Biscuit said...

What?! Romance novelists don't LOVE Fabio?!

hunh...so surprising ;)

NRO.

Bruce, a work in progress said...

HM, no, no running commentary. She's usually too busy laughing.

Biscuit what can I say? Actually, many of the authors don't like those kind of covers but readers keep buyin'em. They do sell books.

MYM said...

lol @ HM's commentary....I can see he won't be writing romance novels anytime soon.

That's really cool...I'll have to read them because we all know writers get their ideas from real life. Don't be modest... ;)

Bruce, a work in progress said...

Drowsey, I didn't want to dash his hopes but HM really shouldn't quit his day job.
She gets her ideas from a lot of places. Where she gets her inspiration is another matter entirely.

I don't read books like that although I have in the past. I'm not much into fiction.

And while I'm generalizing, women today are just to hard to get along with. I shouldn't have to spend a hundred bucks on a date to massage her ego.

If she can't be happy sitting on a beach while I hold her hand or brush her hair I can do without her.

I guess my favorite romance is 'The Bridge Across Forever'. By Richard Bach, because it is a true story. It really bothered me when they got a divorce. But he has gone off the deep end in recent years.

"And I want to retire into the lap of luxury. "

That is what is wrong with this world, everyone wants to, but with seven billion people on this planet that can't happen without destroying the planet.

I live in one room and I'm okay with that, it's a lot more than a lot of other souls have.

Those that want to much are what is going to destroy this planet, and it seems that they don't even see that coming.

Or do you even care as long as you can have what you have now? Do you want it for everyone? Just asking.

Bruce, a work in progress said...

BCC, I don't find women terribly hard to get along with at all. Certainly not any harder than most men. I'm generalizing, but it seems to me if there are men who find most women difficult to get along with then perhaps the problem doesn't lie with the women. In my experience you don't have to spend a hundred bucks to massage her ego. Save the hundred bucks and massage her feet.
Not familiar with that book but it sounds like a love story not a romance - there's a difference. Romance is a broad but specific genre.
As for the rest of your remarks, once again thank you for your insightful comments and probing questions...that have absolutely no bearing on my blog topic. My wants and cares needn't concern you but thank you for asking.

Tequila Mockingbird said...

hey, at least BBC isn't leaving you creepy comments tinged with condemnation for your drinking and various other topics you've written about. maybe it's why he doesnt get along with women.

so, i think you should submit a pic of your dick to sara sue (if you havent already, was that you last week?) for WWOW.

Bruce, a work in progress said...

TM, with regard to your suggestion...ah...no (and no). But thanks for thinkin' of me.

Tequila Mockingbird said...

just checkin. thought i would throw that out there. let me know if you change your mind.

Bruce, a work in progress said...

TM, I promise you'll be the first to know.
