With the Academy Awards just around the corner and the buzz starting about who's going to win what now seems like the right time to tell you that I have appeared in an award winning film. Oh yes. Believe it. A little background.
The ladies over at http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/ (yeah, I love the name too) have written a book entitled "Beyond Heaving Bosoms, The Smart Bitches Guide to Romance Novels". It will be released soon and to promote it the SB's sponsored a contest. The task was to make a video in praise of their book.
Some of you may remember the Trash Talkin' video put together by my wife and the other ladies who were nominated for the Rita awards last June. Well, with a gauntlet such as the SB contest thrown before them how could they resist?
The short of it is, they entered, the winner was announced on Valentine's Day while I was frolicking and being fleeced in Atlantic City and guess who won. That's right, they did. My wife is in the video along with several other very talented writers, our daughter and even our dogs guest star, AND if you watch all the way through the credits you'll even get to see yours truly. Without further ado, get the popcorn and enjoy.

Trash Talkin'
You'd think that with the NBA finals behind us the only trash talking going on would be in the presidential race. You'd be wrong.
Back in March I did a blog post bragging about my wife the romance writer being a finalist for the most prestigious award in the romance writing world. The Ritas are awarded by the Romance Writers of America each year at their national conference and are considered the Academy Awards of romantic fiction. While it is indeed an honor just to be nominated, that little golden statuette is highly coveted and the competition is, well...just look at this video of the finalists in the Contemporary Single Title category.
The one with the sword is my wife. My money's on her.

Time to Brag on My Wife
Yesterday's post was about romance novels. Guess what! Today's post is too.
Movies have Oscar and the Academy Awards. Television has the Emmys. Music has the Grammys. Mystery Novels have the Edgars. Science Fiction has the Hugos. And Romance Novels have...

The Rita Awards are presented annually by the Romance Writers of America (RWA). Just as in January, when Hollywood is abuzz over the announcement of the Oscar nominees, the end of March brings anticipation and butterflies to stomachs all over the Romance writing industry. Yesterday the calls went out and my wife Leslie got one! Her book "She's No Angel" is a finalist for Best Contemporary Romance of 2007.

She's been a finalist twice before and here's hoping that the third time is a charm. The award ceremony is a black tie affair that is held at RWA's annual conference. This year that will be in San Francisco and I have until Saturday August 2 to get in shape to squeeze into a tux. Good thing we just joined a gym.
Congratulations to all the finalists!
Leslie, you're amazing. I could not be more proud of you nor could I possibly be more in love with you.
