Excuses

I'm afraid to admit that I basically have no blog today. I wasn't home all day Saturday and yesterday I was busy beginning the process of raising the dead. So I didn't get to it over the weekend and this morning I got nothin'. Usually when I don't already have something written or at least in mind I find that at the last minute I'm struck by some divine or demonic inspiration and am able to churn out some words. Today, I'm a little foggy. It was supposed to be my day off but I decided to work so that I can trade the day and use it next week in order to have more time to prepare for what is arguably one of the biggest holidays in my household. Halloween. We're having a big party on the 27th and I've got a lot of work to do between now and then. In fact you may be hearing a lot about my progress because that's whats going to be filling my time for the next couple of weeks. I might even explain how I came to have more Halloween decorations than Christmas.

Yesterday. Corpses. For the front yard. I have the chicken wire skeletons made for two of them and need to attach heads, then do the finish work to make them gruesome. I also got two more heads made but even with bodies for those that only gives me four living dead for the lawn. Not impressive. Must have more. Must freak out new neighbors.

I haven't even started on the torture chamber and the autopsy room in the house.

More to come.

pls oh pls tell me this is the preparation for the halloween party, and not how you usually spend the weekend!

You say that as if there would be something wrong with spending the weekend like that.

I never had to decorate for Halloween. Fortunately, none of my kids were ever into it all that much and we live far enough out in the sticks that no one comes out here trick or treating anyway. I think that in the 13 years we have lived here, we have had a grand total of two trick or treaters.

so what are you dressing up for halloween as? i got my costume this weekend, and i was ALMOST a border patrol person ( i thought it might be fun to ask everyone if they had a valid green card at the party i'm going to), but i decided it was a sign from the flyin' sketti monster that i should be a pirate, because i saw three of them this weekend.

Mike, maybe you've had many trick or treaters over the years but they never made it to your house because the people up the road have been eating them.

TM, I haven't decided yet. I'm too bloody busy doing the props. Border patrol is a good one although I must say, lass me t'inks you'd be makin' a fine pirate, arrrr. Prepare to be boarded.

Oh Prepon, don't worry I will. I'll probably have behind-the-scenes progress pictures. You'll also be able to see my sanity (what's left of it) slowly slipping away.

Awww, thanks for missing me. And why does the fact that you love Haloween not surprise me?

Are you sayng I am an evil person? :oP

Bruce said...

No, no, no, I'm not saying you're evil at all! Just that you strike me as the type of person who could really appreciate Halloween.

We've got to do some sort of decorating this year. Back when we lived in the city nobody ever came to the door, but here in this small town we got 85 kids last year.
